The last of our bunch today, Niccolò Piccinni was born in Bari in 1728. He lived a prolific life as a composer in his day, producing operas, symphonies, concertos and chamber music, although today his works are sadly, rarely performed. His operas in particular, of which he composed around eighty, were performed frequently in Rome and abroad in most major European cities.

“We’re gonna need more crayons. There is not necessarily a lot of competition for the title of ‘Greatest unauthorized Kanye West coloring book of all time,’ but newly announced Color Me Kanye would earn it even if there was.”

Reverbs come in many shapes and sizes, but a good rule of thumb is to use shorter reverbs like rooms and plates for more upbeat songs, and longer reverbs like halls for slower ballads. Most reverbs and delays can be synced to the tempo of the track, allowing you to dial in just the right amount of decay. Try setting the decay time so the effect fades away just before the next phrase begins.

We live in an exciting time for music. Now more than ever, independent musicians can create, release, and earn from music while maintaining full ownership. Gone are the days when a handful of tastemakers and big businesses decide who’s in and who’s out. We, the people — the producers, the songwriters — now have the ability to “place” our music on digital “shelves” where real consumers can listen to that music and thus support the continued creative process.

Before you start adding in effects like delay and reverb, shape your individual percussion instruments with EQ and compression. A note of caution here: Using too much compression is something that often turns an interesting drum part into a bland one. How you use these tools will entirely depend on the character of the music you’re composing.

It aims to develop the culture of podcasting in its home province, producing high-quality content and inspiring others to do the same. The goal is offering local listeners a wider breadth of available, relevant audio programming, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

Another tried-and-true method for promoting your show is to make sure your show’s information appears on local listservs, blogs, and event calendars as soon as the information is confirmed. Don’t sleep on these websites and print publications. They often post about a show weeks before the event, and local editors and writers check them out for potential editorial coverage. You can usually search for event listings and add your info yourself to their websites.

For example, a kick-driven house track needs to be shaped much differently than a lo-fi song with drum parts you want tucked somewhere in the background. Experiment with different EQs and compressors and resist the urge to lean too heavily on preset options. Purposefully muddling certain instruments in your kit while keeping others sharp and focused can also create an interesting contrast to build on.
